Be Inspired: Africa at the crossroads: from Maputo to Mogadishu

Photographer-filmmaker Guillaume Bonn and curator Rozemin Keshvani consider how reframing and re-contextualising post-colonial histories through photography and archival activation may promote remembering, dialogue and reconciliation in East Africa.

This event is organised in cooperation with Zamana Space, Ismaili Centre London and is part of the exhibition Dreams and Dystopias  - East Africa At The Crossroads.

Includes an exclusive tour of the exhibition with Guillaume Bonn at Zamana Space at 4:30pm.

Writing Nostalgia, Resistance & Memory: Writing Recipe

“Nothing tastes as wonderful as the Makate Miminina my mama used to prepare for my children in her small London flat . . .”

How is food an expression of culture, its diversity and knowledge? How does food culture becomes central motif in migration and settlement? What stories do recipes carry? How does it demonstrate the influence of migration and interchange in developing cultural identity?

Join Commonwealth Fellow Narendra Pachkhédé in this cross-generational interactive session to discover how East African cuisine demonstrates the hybridity.

Elaborating the premise of the cookbook as archive and repertoire, in the session he will draw the contours of the Ismaili Food Culture.

Please bring your recipes to share and tell stories!
